Comitee work
As representatives of all students at the Department of English and American Studies, we have representatives on all important university committees. This applies above all to the The Department Board (Institutsrat) of the Institute of English and American Studies, the Faculty Board (Fakultätsrat) of the Faculty of Languages and Literatures and the Kommission für Lehre und Studium (KLS).
The Department Board (Institutsrat)
The Department Board (Institutsrat) is the decision-making body of the Institute, where all important decisions of the Institute are made. It meets once a month. This committee is made up of 4 professors, 1 member of the academic staff, 1 member of the administration and 1 student member of the institute.

The Faculty Board (Fakultätsrat)
The Faculty Board (Fakultätsrat) is the decision-making body of the faculty, accordingly all important decisions of the faculty are made here. This body is made up of 8 professors, 2 mid-level academic staff, 2 administrative staff and 2 student members of the Faculty of Languages and Literatures. Like the Department Board, the Faculty Board meets once a month.

Kommission für Lehre und Studium (KLS)
The Kommission für Lehre und Studium (KLS) is an advisory body of the institute/faculty. This committee is tasked with clarifying various issues relating to teaching and studies. Among other things, the committee discusses the new study regulations.

Fachschaftsräte und -initiativen Versammlung
The Fachschaftsräte- und -initiativenversammlung (FRIV) is the association of all student representatives at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and represents their interests at university level. The FRIV meets once a month during the lecture period. Responsible for the FRIV is the Referat für Fachschaftskoordination.
